Regulations

Regulations play an important role in keeping our communities safe—protecting the environment, ensuring employee safety, and maintaining standards. However, excessive red tape can hinder business growth and make it difficult to provide living wages. We want to work directly with our farmers to identify which regulations are stifling growth and make the necessary adjustments to support both safety and prosperity.

Agricultural Careers & Salem, Beauregard

At the same time, we must encourage students to pursue careers in agriculture and better educate our communities about the resources and job opportunities this industry provides. Hosting more local events centered on farming—particularly in places like Salem & Beauregard—can broaden public understanding of agriculture. These events would allow farmers to share firsthand how their operations work and what challenges they face, while giving citizens the opportunity to engage in solutions that keep the industry strong.

Many of our smaller farmers are struggling with issues such as land erosion and crop failures caused by climate changes. By creating spaces for dialogue between farmers and the community, we can foster a greater sense of importance around agriculture—not only for those who work the land, but also for the citizens who want to actively support change.

Small businesses face similar issues, especially in excessive regulations that can hinder growth. I want to work hand-in-hand to reach the young entrepreneurs and outline some of the local resources available for getting their small businesses off the ground.
